How army deicer works at civilian airportsThe most popular material to for deicing in our country is sodium chloride (salt) or a mixture of sand and salt. It's cheap, but it is not safe for the environment and road infrastructure. In addition, such a mixture damages the car bodies, shoes and even metal parts of different machinery.

It is a pity but today in Ukraine we chose the low-cost anti glaze materials and don`t pay attention on its damage effect on environment, cars and engineering infrastructure. “It is strictly forbidden to use the salt and sand mixture on the bridges and overhead roads", - complains Sergey Ostrovsky, the head of marketing department of PJSC "Himdivizion".

It leads to soil pollution, damages environment, accelerates the destruction of road surfaces, metal and concrete structures.

Sodium chloride and mixtures with it are the most dangerous for the environment and cause the corrosion creation, say the specialists from PJSC "Himdivizion". “The using of sodium reagents to deice the cement-concrete surface is acceptable only in 1.5-3 year after its building”- notice specialists.

What is the alternative?

PJSC “Himdivision” produces granulated anti glaze reagent (ANC), it is double complex compound of calcium nitrate and urea (fertilizer.–“Himprom”) with surface-active agent additive. “The first lot of ANC (on the market - “Himprom”) was on 1984 year for military aerodromes of USSR, - said Sergey. There are no analogs of ANC”.

The concept is: the ANC granules are dissolved, during the process the heat is producing and melting the ice. Producer says that the effect continues up to3 days under the range temperature 0 to -12ºC.

By the way, according to the certificate of quality, ANC reagent is innoxious for people if to use it rightly. ANC doesn`t have corrosive effect on the steel, non-ferrous metals, plastics, rubber and almost desn`t damage the shoes (in comparison with chloride reagent).

Accordind to PJSC “Himdivision” the main buyers of ANC are aerodromes of Ukrainian and CIS countries, Baltics ant Middle Asia. “Non-corrosive active reagent for preventing ice and deicing are used on the concrete runways for years, - says in the PJSC “Himdivision”. Dnepropetrovsk airport and international airport “Borispol” buy ANC.

“Borispol” press service affirmed that airport uses the production of PLSC “Himdivision”. Moreover, ANC is the best deicer among all anti glaze reagents. “Ukrainian reagent (produced in Dneprodzerzhynsk) – is the best quality-price ratio”.

The salt is never welcome in the seaports

The specialists of PJSC “Himdivision” sure that ANC is good for seaports.

We contacted the Odessa Commercial Sea Port and it turned out that they don`t believe in the efficiency of non-corrosive active reagents, because they had the negative experience of using anti glaze materials.

“They are more expensive than a simple salt and have worse effect in 2 or even 3 times, and they contain 89-92% of the salt (sodium chloride or calcium. – “Himprom”)"- sums up Sergey Kushko, the deputy chief of the Odessa Port. However, there are no runways in the port, the temperature is usually above zero, and even when it is freeze, the dynamic traffic prevents the formation of ice as a rule. If we have problem with the icing on the roadways and sidewalks then we will simply use sand.

We should notice that some users of anti glaze reagent don`t like the short shelf life of domestic products.

If we don’t use the reagent this year it will be useless for next one, because it will become a monolith.

The producer guarantees its mealiness only within the period of shell life – 1 year from the date of production for ANC.
